Semi-Permanent Color for Hair

SEMI-PERMANENT COLOR: This method uses a much milder process than permanent hair color because it has no ammonia or peroxide to assist the dye in penetrating the cortex of the hair shaft.

But what happens instead is the semi-permanent color is absorbed into the cuticle layer and into the cortex where it sits until the hair is washed several times. The more times the hair is washed, the more the color fades away.

Although all hair color strengths are different, most semi-permanent color lasts between 6-8 weeks, which is approximately between 10 and 20 washes. Those colors that last longer may have para-dyes.

Be sure to clearly read the ingredients to ensure you don’t have any allergic reactions, as some individuals are sensitive to hair dyes. Also, test the color on the hair to ensure that color is the color you want on your hair.

Pros: Lots of color selection; Less damaging to the hair; adds shine and gloss; doesn’t noticeably show re-growth because it fades with every wash.

Cons: Cannot lighten natural hair, washes out fast.
