When we are shopping for hair shampoos what should we be looking for?
Well, trying to find the right hair shampoo is not as simple as looking at the price. You have to look at the ingredients that are in the shampoos as well as looking at your hairs characteristics in order to find the shampoo best suited for your hair type. But finding natural less toxic ingredients in your hair products is the best option.
It’s best to purchase
shampoos
without conditioning and thickening agents that can wreck havoc on your skin, scalp and hair in the long run.
Make sure your
shampoo
or
conditioner
doesn’t have conditioning agents like quaternium, polyquaternium or thickening agents like cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol. Any form of alcohol dries the hair. These ingredients are toxic and can be more problematic in the long run.
These thickening and conditioning agents do not only harm the hair over time, but they can also be problematic on the skin. These can cause acne along the hairline, sides of face and neck. Hair sprays, pomades and other styling aids can also play a role in encouraging skin breakouts.
The ingredients in these products produce a film leading to clogging of the pores. They contain heavy oils, thickeners and waxes that once in contact with the skin can clog the pores leading to acne breakouts.
Make sure to thoroughly rinse your hair after each shampoo and conditioning process. Don’t forget to look for hair shampoos that are more natural and don’t contain these harmful ingredients.
A great tip is properly cleansing and exfoliating the skin in the problem areas. If you are experiencing blemishes it’s best to do a test.
Stop using the shampoo and/or conditioner if they include many of these ingredients and see how your skin reacts. If your skin improves, it’s most likely that your shampoo or conditioner is causing your breakouts.
Take the time to carefully find the right shampoo and conditioner for you. This will be most beneficial in the long run.
