'Da Kink In My Hair

'DA Kink In My Hair is an amazing theatrical play and a must see show!

A wonderful play written by Trey Anthony, a Toronto based actor/writer and comedian. Trey Anthony's comic 'Da Kink In My Hair adds a cleverly acted and directed story of warmth and humor.

It makes an emotional connection to a woman's kinks and curls to her life experiences. A series of monologues explore the many issues affecting many black women today. Anthony who also plays the main character Novlette, places the main setting in a popular salon and informal community meeting place of Toronto's Eglington Avenue West Caribbean neighborhood – a popular bonding place for many black women.

Anthony says she chose the title because she wanted it to be "something that black women could immediately identify with. As soon as you hear the word 'kink', you automatically think of something that has to be worked out. As black women, we’re

continually trying to work out the kinks. You can often tell what's going on in a woman's life by the state of her hair. If it's in a mess, her life is probably in a mess. This play tries to tell women that it's okay to have those kinks. You can deal with them and learn to accept and embrace them."

This play is a must see play that every curly woman can relate to... the challenges and triumphs of our curly, coily kinks. A very satirical, comedic and enlightening play that has been praised by all races, ages – both male and female alike.

The play made its debut in Toronto in 2001 which sold out every single night with people standing in line for hours to see this warm heart felt and very witty show. The media hailed it as the "Pick of the Fringe" and honed it as having the best ensemble cast.

In 2002 the play was restaged for Harbourfront Center's Black History Festival where it sold out in every single performance again. It was later invited to participate in the 2002 New York International Fringe Festival and then invited again in 2004 by NBC to be featured in a PSNBC showcase.

'Da Kink is a must see for everyone!

If you want to see a wonderfully crafted funny show, 'Da Kink In My Hair is a must see!
