Transitioning from Relaxed to Natural?
To achieve Brandy's sleek sexy micro braid hair style it's best to use straight human hair extensions. Human hair offers so much versatility. You can curl it, or wave it by simply using a curling iron on the hair for a more glamorous look. No need to worry about melting hair or alarming the fire department! You just treat the hair as you would your own since it's all natural. How's that for a curly hair tip! Also, remember that if your hair is not silky straight don't buy the "Silky Straight" hair, it would be better to opt for the human hair with a bit of texture like the Remi Kinky, natural textured, "Straight Yaki", "Deep Wave" or the "European Wavy" textures. Hair usually ranges in length from 8 inches (for shoulder length styles) to 18-24 inches for longer styles past the shoulders. Always remember to carefully care for your braids with the right conditioning products.
Medium-Large Sized Braids
Braids are a great way to give you a break from the daily styling grind.
It's great to get up in the morning and just wash and go. To make your braid experience a positive one without breaking too much into your budget, and still achieve the look of your favorite singer like Alicia Keys, Brandy or Christina Aguilera, the best thing to do is purchase hair that closely matches your hair type and texture. Kanekalon - a durable synthetic fiber is great for medium and large braid hairstyles. Kanekalon does not easily slip out of the hair like human hair does when it gets wet. And for only $3.00 a pack compared to $30.00 for a pack of 24-inch human hair, it's obvious what hair is the better deal.
Sassy two-strand twists have become a popular hair style for many black women. As many women begin growing out their perms many are choosing to go "au natural". While they grow out their naturally curly hair, many are cutting off their processed ends and transitioning with two-strand twists.
This look can be achieved with the afro kinky human or synthetic hair extensions. Afro kinky hair is best suited for women with afro hair texture because the hair blends well and it looks more natural.
If you'd like a hype hair style with a lot a' funk, the "Bohemian Curl" is one of the best hair weaves for this look.
Simply cornrow your hair and then weave the "Bohemian Curl" weave throughout your hair. You can use either synthetic or human hair, although human hair adds the most natural result. You can keep the curls tight and curly or you can separate the curls to add fullness for a funkier afro hair style.
Tight and Medium Curls
Using the right hair cutting technique is extremely important when cutting curly hair. It's important to cut the hair in a way that creates the right amount of volume without the frizzies. It is also very important to go to the right salon and to a stylist who is experienced in working with curly hair.
To create this sassy wavy hair style simply wash hair and towel dry or use a diffuser. Once the hair is almost dry use Ouidad products and run fingers through hair to add more volume. Let hair air dry and style as desired with your fingers. If you use a brush or comb you may add too much frizz.
To achieve this style you can use the same method used for tight/medium curls - by washing hair, towel drying the hair and adding a leave-in conditioner like Infusium 23.
A diffuser can then be used to dry and style the hair. Once the hair is dry, add a small amount of gel and sheen to your hands, rubbing hands together to evenly distribute throughout the hair. Make sure you pull your fingers throughout your hair so that the product is evenly distributed - style as desired.
You no longer have to be a Rastafarian to wear dreadlocks. This look has become one of the most popular hair styles to date. Regardless of race or ethnicity, dreadlocks can look lovely worn on almost anyone.
There are several different methods to create beautiful locks. There's the teasing method where hair is parted in squares (either large or small depending on the desired look) and a comb is used to tease the hair. One holds the squared section of hair in one hand and with the other hand holds the comb about an inch from the root of that sectioned area pushing, combing or teasing the hair towards the scalp. As the hair is being combed towards the scalp hair is rolled between the fingers to give it a rounder finish. Over time after several washes the hair will become more locked. It is up to you whether or not you'd like to use a locking product.
There are strong arguments towards using locking products and using nothing. However, if you want to avoid any buildup of dirt and residue it's suggested that you avoid using any products - only a clarifying shampoo. In the end, do what works best for your hair type.
Another method becoming more common is the braiding or twisting method. Once again hair is sectioned into tiny squares and braided or two-strand twisted. Over time the hair begins to matte and looks less like braids or twists and more like natural dreads.
Some other methods are palm-rolling and free-form. If you want more information it's best to talk to a stylist who specializes in locking hair. They will let you know what method is best suited to your hair type. You can also research this on the internet.
