Make your Skin Sing &...
Top it off with a Little Style

No time for the spa? Try these tips to keep your skin moisturized!

I know the chill of winter has got you down, but having hot showers is a definate no no, as it robs the skin of it's natural moisture, making it rough and dry.

Make sure you use luke warm water in your shower or bath to keep your skin moisturized.

Cold water splash

  • After you wash your face with lukewarm water, add a splash of cold water to your face to close your pores and even out your skin tone.
  • Moisturize!

  • After a shower, or after washing your hands or face always moisturize with a softening hand, body or face cream. This will keep your skin looking dewy and supple.
  • Wear gloves

  • Although most of us have a dishwasher, here is a tip to use when you don't have enough dishes to fill the dishwasher but have a few utensils or glasses to wash. Always put on a pair of rubber kitchen gloves to avoid having dry unappealing hands. Dish washing soap is very harsh on the skin. If you haven't bought those handy rubber gloves yet, moisturize!

If your face is in need of some TLC and you don't have the time or money for a facial, here are some must haves for your daily cleansing regimen.

  • A cleanser suited for your skin type.
  • An exfoliant to remove any dead skin.
  • A cream or serum to nourish and hydrate the skin.
  • Sunblock to protect the skin from any further damage.
  • You could use a cream with built-in sunblock protection to avoid the hassle of adding another step to your daily beauty routine.

    Natural Nails

Wearing nail polish is a nice way to add glamour to your nails. It is very common for many women to wear dark colors especially in the fall and winter seasons. However, during the cooler months nails may also become dry and brittle. And with these darker shades, it is common for nails to become discolored over time.

To give your nails a vacation from the daily routine of nail polish you can remove the nail polish and cut your nails short to give them a cleaner look.

If your nails are discolored due to the continual wear of dark nail polish, soak nails in lemon juice or use baking soda and water, and a toothbrush to brush over nails. Overtime, they will lose their discoloration and come alive again!

Use a file and buffer to clean up any rough edges. Many drugstores have a 3 in 1 buffer system. Soak nails in warm water, clean cuticles and then gently rub with cream. Continue to cream and soak the nails for a few days and they will come back to life again. And with spring just around the corner, there’s no better time to show off your nails!
