Acne, Blemishes & Uneven Skin Assistance

Acne can be one of the most horrifying medical conditions. For those who face this skin disorder, it can be very difficult to cope with.

The presence of skin blemishes, un-even, blotchy skin can be embarrassing and create a sense of self consciousness that can take over.

Many who suffer with acne are afraid to go out and enjoy spending time with friends or family. And in extreme cases some refuse to go outside.

For those with blemishes they usually ask themselves – why me? Well, there are many causes that we must recognize first before we go any further.

Here are some common causes:

Genetics – Family members who also suffer with this usually have another family member with the same skin conditions. Severe cases such as cystic acne usually are known to be hereditary.

Hormones – This is the number one cause of this condition. When we hit puberty, a hormonal change occurs and the production of sex hormones known as androgens usually will lead to acne. This is why it is common to see a majority of adolescents and teens with this skin problem.

Menstruation & Pregnancy – Hormonal changes during pregnancy and menstruation are also a common cause of pimples in many young girls and women.

Basically what happens is the sebaceous gland's are stimulated by androgens. This produces extra sebum. It is the sebums job to go up the follicle towards the surface of the skin. But what happens here is the sebum mixes with dead skin and other skin bacteria. These bad skin cells which have been shed from the lining of the follicle leads to the presence of extra sebum in the follicle. This extra sebum leads to clogging on the skin, not allowing it to breathe – thereby leading to acne.

Diet – A poor diet low in vitamins, fresh fruits, vegetables and water leads to acne prone skin. That is why it is not good to eat too many foods high in sugar or carbohydrates as this aggravates the skin and causing acne.

Stress – Hormones can go up and down when we are stressed. Stress actually causes the production of hormones like cortisol, which can lead to acne prone skin. These hormonal fluctuations can prompt the skins oil glands to enlarge leading to more oil to be secreted from the skins oil glands. This leads to more skin blemishes, redness and inflammation.

Improper care of cosmetic tools – Dirty cosmetic tools like blush brushes and cosmetic pads that are not changed or cleaned with alcohol can lead to acne.

Heavy makeup - For those who where a lot of makeup, this can lead to skin blemishes as it can clog the pores. It’s good to blot your skin with a clean tissue about every hour to remove any excess oils laying on the surface of the skin. This is also a good tip to do to remove shine.

Oily Moisturizers and cosmetics – When purchasing face and cosmetic products try to stay away from products containing petrolatum, lanolin, butyl stearate, oleic acid or lauryl alcohol as these clog the skin, not allowing it to breathe.

Steroids – Steroids mess with natural hormonal balance and can lead to skin irritation.

Environmental Irritants – Air pollution is a common cause of breakouts. When the dirt that circulates the air is not properly removed from the skin, it can clog pores and lead to future skin problems.

These are only a handful of the most common causes in many people. However, it is highly recommended that you visit your dermatologist or doctor for recommended treatment methods. We offer this information to you for educational purposes only. Immediately go to your doctor if you are experiencing skin issues of this nature. Your doctor will recommend the best treatment suitable for your condition.

Treatments:

There are so many new products to choose from that this is no longer an issue when you find the right way to treat it.
